Patient hits out at 'ridiculous' Spalding vaccine queues

A patient has hit out the 'ridiculous' queue at Spalding's new vaccine centre.

Last week, the NHS revealed that Broadgate House, in Westlode Street, Spalding, and Pinchbeck Library and Community Hub are offering appointments for booster jabs along with first and second doses.

On Friday, Holbeach district councillor Graham Rudkin had booked to attend the Spalding site at 12.10pm, but was appalled to see a long queue when he arrived.

One of the people waiting said they had been stood outside for 45 minutes - so Coun Rudkin cancelled his Covid booster appointment and left.

He said: "I just think that’s unacceptable.

"I was disappointed. I am not waiting for three quarters of an hour, not when it was supposed to be an appointment system.

"It’s ridiculous."

An NHS spokesman said this issue came as a result of people attending without an appointment. They said: "The new Spalding vaccination site at Broadgate House was extremely busy on Friday due to people arriving without a booked appointment, this has caused long delays, all appointments for this site should be booked by calling 119 or visiting the national booking system, appointments are continually being added in response to demand and as vaccine supply allows."

Pharmacy 2U is running the new Spalding site while Knight Street Pharmacy is looking after the Pinchbeck hub.
