A DRUMMING session at Surfleet Seas End Primary School was a real treat for musician Chris Greer, who was able to work with some really small groups.

Teacher Ben Newstead said the nine pupils from Years 5 and 6 who tried their hand at the drums came out with “some really nice traditional African songs”.

Some of the children in the school had been surprised at how difficult it was to make a good sound, despite thinking it would be easy.

Youngsters had worked in class groups with Chris, starting with trying to pick up the rhythm of British nursery rhymes before moving on to African songs.
