VISITORS to Surfleet at the weekend need not worry that Daleks banished by Dr Who during the TV series new season opener on Saturday have taken refuge in the village.
The bright blue one in the garden of Trevor Wright is in fact an entry in the Celebrate Surfleet scarecrow competition taking place as part of the village fete on Sunday.
Scarecrows of all shapes and sizes are popping up all over the village in readiness for the annual fete, for which Trevor is a committee member.
It is being held at Glen Park in Station Road and as well as touring the village to see the scarecrows, visitors can expect a host of activities.
Among them are a dog show run throughout the day by the Fen Bank Greyhound Sanctuary, the visit of a helicopter and sumo wrestling.
Proceeds of the day, which starts at 11am, are in aid of village projects and more details can be found on the Celebrate Surfleet Village Events Facebook page.
