A BALLOON from Cowbit travelled all the way to Germany to clinch the owner first prize in the village’s diamond jubilee balloon race.
The balloon travelled 364 miles across Norfolk, the North Sea and Holland before being picked up by a German schoolboy.
Morik Beckmann of Spenge, a small town in the North Rhine-Westphalia state, discovered the balloon in his back garden.
At least half a dozen balloons made it across the North Sea to Holland. A few blew off course however, with one being found in Lincoln and another having travelled south to be picked up near Heathrow Airport in Staines, West London.
Kitchen supply/installation supply company Aron Moyses sponsored the race, which raised £201 for village hall funds.
