Autistic Lincs: Join The Journey – Poetry Book Online!

Hello there! Callum Brazzo here, continuing to make Autistic Lincs.

Three years in the making and I am privileged to deliver some amazing news.

My book 'Movement: Performance Poetry Written Down' is AVAILABLE ONLINE.

And the timing could not have been more appropriate because it’s through Autistic Empire (AE), a ‘social organisation run by and for autistic people. Its mission is to help Autistic people connect, co-create, take control of their lives and flourish.’

I met them at The Autism Shows and was one of the massive takeaways from the experiences.

In 2016, I self-published my poetry with the funds afforded to me from when I was running a social enterprise called Spergy – the online arts community for those on or interested in the autistic spectrum.

Back then, I went to all three of The Autism Shows, to promote Spergy and forge community connections. Eventually, it got to a point where I had to either enter a financially viable job or travel the unpredictable route of Spergy which would require a lot of time, energy and executive functioning skills (planning, organizing and executing…)

So, although you will be able to find some online traces of our existence, Spergy concluded.

But I was also able to create some T-shirts from the money we had available which adorned the slogan ‘Join The Journey.’

Enter The Autistic Empire and the journey evolves.

The trajectory set out for my social enterprise, flanked by my dad and brother, may have swerved but The Autistic Empire is a fresh (and better-run) movement that I want to follow, nurture and participate in.

In other news, I will be opening with a speech and with some poems for the Little Miracles Fun Day and Autistic Led will have a stall at the Going Forward Music Festival, both in Spalding this month!

In moments like these, full circle moments like the emergence and development of Autistic Empire, and community-connecting moments like the events mentioned above, I feel immensely grateful to all those that helped me along the way, including myself.

I never wrote to make a book but here I am.

And yet, like Natasha Bedingfield’s classic song states, ‘The rest is still unwritten'.
