Arrest after woman rescued in house blaze

A neighbour used a ladder to rescue a woman when fire broke out at her home in Cawood Lane, Gosberton, on Thursday morning.

The 39-year-old woman was taken to Boston’s Pilgrim Hospital for treatment but was not detained.

A man aged 41 from Dogsthorpe, Peterborough, was arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life. He was released on police bail until March 25.

Fire severely damaged the front door and porch and there was smoke damage to the remainder of the house.

Fire crews from Spalding, Donington and Kirton were alerted shortly after 9.30am.

* Fire crews rescued a Golden Retriever dog from a house fire in Oldham Drive, Pinchbeck, on Thursday afternoon.

The fire started in the kitchen and severely damaged kitchen appliances and units.

There was smoke damage to the remainder of the home. Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue said the cause was an electrical fault in a fridge motor.

Fire crews from Spalding and Donington were alerted at about 2.30pm.
