A weekend celebration of our armed forces at Fleet Hargate’s Anglia Motel raised almost £2,000.

Motel boss Harold Payne and his team have raised many thousands of pounds over the years for local heroes and veterans and they have just presented £10,000 to the Royal Anglian Regiment’s benevolent fund.

The armed forces celebration was held on July 2-3 and attractions included a vast collection of military vehicles and equipment, entertainment – including appearances by singers Jordan Howlett, Dennis Hannant and Annie Snart – and a service of remembrance.

Harold and his team have since staged another event at Hunstanton, again raising £2,000 for their heroes and veterans charity.

One of the highlights of the Fleet event for Harold was the Sunday flypast by aircraft from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.

“I think we had the Spitfire and the Hurricane chasing one another,” said Harold.
