The sweet smell of success at Holbeach Rotary Club is set to continue if its new president has his way.
Andrew Bines was handed the chains of office by outgoing president Ralph Fisher at the Chestnut Tea Rooms, Gedney, during one of the club’s weekly meetings.
Mr Bines (51) who is married to fellow Rotarian Susan, has run his own carpet and upholstery cleaning company in Holbeach for 17 years.
“It’s been such a busy time for me and I’ve put a tremendous amount of work in for the club from being in charge of its Christmas events, so to become president is fantastic,” Mr Bines said.
“We’ve had such a good year and won a lot of district awards, so we’ve just got to carry on with the good work.”
Mr and Mrs Bines joined Holbeach Rotary Club four and a half years ago and in that time it has picked up a string of awards.
In April this year, the club was awarded a silver salver for its efforts in recycling unwanted jewellery, watches and other items for charity.
It also received Rotary’s Vocational Trophy after members built a new Santa Sleigh to use for its Christmas street collections in 2011.
Mr Bines said: “The main thing we’re looking forward to this year is having fun while we do things.
“We have to find things that everybody enjoys doing, but we’re not going to change anything dramatically because it’s successful.”
