Spalding District Guiders said a sad goodbye to Ann Tilbury recently after she decided to give up her position as leader of 1st Spalding (St Mary & St Nicolas) Guide Unit.
She was presented with a gift, card and flowers.
Ann was the assistant leader with 1st Upper Norwood Guide Unit (near Crystal Palace) for 20 years before joining Spalding as an assistant guider in 1991, later becoming their leader in 1994.
She was also joint Spalding district commissioner for six years and county camp and holiday advisor from 2006 to 2011.
Ann is a keen camper and took her Guides on many camps and holidays including a visit to Ireland and every four years to Poacher, an international camp.
She also enjoyed joining in the adventurous activities such as abseiling off Lincoln Castle and whizzing across a huge zip wire in Switzerland.
Ann also visited three out of the four Girlguiding World Centres in Switzerland, London and Mexico, only missing out on Sangam in India.
She was presented with her 40 year service award to Girlguiding at The North Shore Hotel, Skegness in 2011.
Ann has given so many opportunities and new experiences to so many girls over the years and all are sorry to see her go.
Lorraine Derrick has taken over from Ann as the leader of 1st Spalding Guides although Ann will stay on as an occasional helper.
If anyone would like to register their interest in volunteering as a leader or helper or register their daughter to join Rainbows, Brownies or Guides, please do so at www.girlguiding.org.uk
