Has your child ever dreamt of having tea at the House of Commons with the MP and featuring on a Radio 2 show?
Well that’s just what last year’s Tulipmania Prince and Princess Joseph Porter and Georgie Van Dyke did on Tuesday – and a world of opportunity is about to open up for this year’s winners.
The hunt for the Tulipmania Prince and Princess 2015 is now under way.
Children aged five to 12 from across South Holland can now enter a competition to become the new Prince and Princess in May.
They will be chosen early on the day, Saturday May 2, and will lead the Tulipmania procession around Springfields Festival Gardens.
Jan Whitbourn, of competition organisers Tulip Radio, said: “What a fabulous opportunity for a boy and girl! Not everyone can say they have had tea with MP John Hayes at the House of Commons – who knows what adventures this year’s winners might have?”
The Tulipmania Prince and Princess competition continues the tradition established by the Flower Parade of involving young people.
On the day entrants are asked to wear tulip-themed outfits. Jan said: “We know not everyone can afford to spend a lot on the outfits – just a tulip lapel or bouquet would do. But it’s personality that is really important.
“Our prince and princess will have beautiful smiles and not be shy when the crowds wave to them.
“The Prince and Princess will lead the procession, but there will be room for 10 other entrants on the Springfields train which will follow.”
