Actor Steph Genovese will take his seat among the 360-strong audience enjoying red carpet glitz tonight (Tuesday) for the premiere of a made in South Holland movie, Dishonoured.
He plays the tough lead character, John Venonesser, in the action thriller, but soon his softer side will show through when filming starts on his next project, an as yet untitled rom com.
“It’s one of the things I have always wanted to do,” said Steph. “It’s one of the things on my bucket list.”
On Friday Steph (42), from Holbeach, and his editor were making last-minute “tweaks” to Dishonoured to make sure everything was just perfect before the film hits the silver screen tonight at Spalding’s South Holland Centre.
Just five professional actors worked on the film but they were joined by lots of local faces working as extras.
Casting for the romantic comedy is due to start in March and, this time, Steph will widen the net to give people in the King’s Lynn and Peterborough areas a chance to try out for the film.
Steph will play the male romantic lead, a millionaire English gentleman who temporarily casts aside his mansion, Ferraris and Bentleys in a bid to find romance with a woman who can love him for himself rather than his money.
He describes the movie style as “very Notting Hill” and can’t wait to get started, although that means he must spend a lot of time in the gym.
Steph had to gain three stones in weight to play Venonesser – and must now lose it all again.
