£1,500 bill for clearing dump

Long Sutton parish council has been left with a £1,500 bill for clearing fly-tipped waste on its Seagate Road allotments.

Parish councillor Bobbie Ashton said the tipping is nothing to do with the allotment holders themselves – the problem is caused by others who are treating the land as a dumping ground.

She said there is household waste, grass cuttings, tree cuttings and lots of places where people have burned paperwork.

Coun Ashton said she thought the council ought to make it clear to the public how much it costs to have it cleared.
