Students at Spalding High School have every right to feel pleased with themselves.
The school has helped make a special girl’s birthday wish come true.
These newspapers launched the Ten for Ten Appeal to fulfil one of the tenth birthday wishes of cerebral palsy sufferer Alice Bates, of Long Sutton.
Alice wished for a thousand birthday cards for her big day, and in fact received three times that many.
Over 250 cards were sent by students and staff at Spalding High School in a collection organised by Alice’s older siblings, who are students at the school. The cards were collected in a post box set up in school by Alice’s oldest sister Abigail.
A member of staff said: “Over the weeks, the box has slowly been filled and has recently reached over 250 cards. A large number of these cards were given to Alice by years 7 and 8 with a proportion coming from the rest of the year groups, including the sixth form and staff.
“The success of this appeal was revealed after Alice Bates announced, ‘All these cards make me feel loved’, and the students at Spalding High School should be very pleased with themselves for helping a special girl’s birthday wish come true.”
Alice’s tenth birthday was on February 3.
