Spalding branch of The Royal Naval Association had an unusual meeting at The Constitutional Club in Spalding.

It was the diamond wedding anniversary of Shipmates Ted and Doris Landen.

They married in Gedney Hill in 1956 and have a son and daughter and three grandchildren.

Ted and Doris received a congratulatory wedding anniversary message from the Queen, which was framed in an official frame and presented at the meeting by branch secretary S/M Terry Day (pictured right).

Branch members toasted Ted and Doris with a tot of rum and a piece of anniversary cake.

Ted undertook his National Service from 1950-1952 in the Lincolnshire Regiment, and afterwards spent 30 years working for Smedley’s factory in Spalding. He joined the RNA in Spalding as an associate member in 1999, Doris joining three years later.
