Race for Life for Holbeach workers and long journey in toy car 10 years ago in 2011
Five co-workers power-walked their way to raising £870 for charity10 years ago this week.
Elaine Wiles, Lynn Riches, Donna Bailey, Karen Spurdens and Pauline Tripp, who worked together at Boyes in Holbeach, took part in the Race for Life event to support Cancer Research UK.
Two of the ladies took part in the Cambridge event, while the other three raced in King’s Lynn.
Mrs Riches said: “Two of us had done it before, but for the rest of us it was the first time we’d done anything like it. But now we have definitely got the bug and will be doing it again.”
Back in 2011, Spalding youngster Mark Carroll was preparing for a 55-mile journey in a battery-powered car he built with his grandpa.
The Spalding Grammar School pupil was aiming to raise money for Cancer Research in memory of the two grandmothers he had lost to the disease.
He would travel at an average speed of 4mph from Cambridge to Spalding.
