MAKE IT YOURSELF: How to create a spring arrangement
The staff at Flowers 'n' Things in Red Lion Street, Spalding, show us how to use tulips to make a lovely display in this month's column:
This month we have decided to show you how to create a contemporary floral display to brighten your home.
All you need to get going is a clear glass bowl, some tulips, some willow (we’ve used pussy willow), and a drop of water – it couldn’t be easier!
Firstly, remove your tulips from water; leaving them out of water for a few minutes will make the stems a little easier to work with.
While you let your tulips rest, make sure the glass bowl is both clean and dry. Pop a small amount of water in the base of the bowl, just enough to feed your plants.
Next you need to arrange your tulips and willow inside the bowl. Starting from the base of the stem, gently encourage the stem to curve around the inside of the bowl until it’s sitting comfortably and securely.
Repeat this until you’ve filled the bowl to your satisfaction, sit back, and enjoy!
