A Father's Day themed 'Make it Yourself' with Flowers 'n' Things in Spalding
This month, the team at the shop in Red Lion Street, show us how to wrap items professionally:
With Father’s Day coming up on June 16, this month we wanted to provide you with some present-inspiration and show you how we gift wrap bits here in the shop too! To get started with this one, you need to get a selection of gifts together.
We decided to gather some bits and pieces for a keen gardener; a magazine for inspiration, some gardening themed stationery, a couple of plants and some refreshments to keep his spirits up while he works too. You’ll also need something to arrange your gifts in. Try to make sure it’s still a useful present in itself – so we used a decorative tray.
The next step is wrapping it, and we’re going to explain how we gift-wrap items in the shop.
Once you’ve learnt this method you’ll never have trouble wrapping anything ever again!
We’ve used clear cellophane and will decorate it with a nice colourful ribbon fashioned into a bow.
First up, you need to cut your cellophane to the right length. You’ll need enough to wrap around all the items. Place your gift in the centre of the cellophane. Pick up the long length of cellophane sitting behind the hamper and pull it up so you are holding the end of it above the hamper.
Do the same with the length reaching out in front of the hamper. Now scrunch the cellophane together– don’t worry about the sides being open, we’ll deal with that in a minute – and use your ribbon to tie around the cellophane.
To close the sides, just fold them in and tack them shut with Sellotape.
Your hamper should now be looking lovely in a little cellophane bubble and all ready to present to your dad!
