Fears for exotic animal refuge at Deeping St James

By Spalding Today Columnist

The owner of a refuge for more than 350 exotic animals feared the shelter may be forced to close if it could not double its fundraising efforts.

The Exotic Pet Refuge, in Deeping St James, was under threat of closure after receiving an electricity bill for £14,500.

Owner Pam Mansfield said the centre was in dire straits and needed to find another £2,000 a month to cover the bill.
