Village sign returns to Cowbit in 2009

Cowbit residents celebrated getting their village back after 18 months in the repair shop.

The sign was take away for refurbishment work but was reinstated to welcome people to the village.

Parish council chairman Coun Gerald Biggs said at the time: "The sign belongs to the parish and it is about five years since we had any work done on it.

"One of the cow's legs had rotted and desperately needed replacing."
