Life in Spalding and district in 1917

The list of war dead continued to bring misery to South Holland families in 1917, and yet some aspects of life appeared to go on as normal.

Here are just two of the advertisements that appeared in this newspaper 100 years ago, one advertising Raleigh bikes and the other Allinson bread.

Then there were the pictures of elaborate underwear for women, the ‘Easter show of blouses and neckwear’, and adverts for Beecham’s Pills, Diabolo Cream Separator and Ceylindo tea.
