Lidl opens in Winsover Road, Spalding, 18 years ago this week

Traders in Spalding's 'forgotten retail area' of Winsover Road welcomed the opening of supermarket Lidl, saying it 'could only be a good thing'.

It was thought the new store, on the site of the former Co-op, could bring prosperity to that part of town.

Winsover Road contained takeaways, restaurants and a few specialist shops - and traders felt more pedestrian traffic could rejuvenate the area.
