Major south Lincolnshire employer Bakkavor is expanding its annual weekend of fun to all of its 16,000 UK employees to celebrate the company’s 30th birthday.

The annual fun weekend from the leading manufacturer of fresh prepared foods, is taking place on Saturday and Sunday, July 23 and 24, between 10am and 5pm at Springfields Event Centre, Spalding.

It is a free event for all employees and their families, with fair rides, stalls and games, and visitors are expected from all over the UK.

Other activities over the weekend include a dunking tank, a Guiness Book of Records welly-wanging attempt, ‘Bakkavor’s Got Talent’ final, an RAF flypast, a vintage tractor rally and music from Spalding’s Marching Band.

To round off Saturday’s fun, the company is also hosting Party in the Park, with music throughout the evening. Party in the Park is open to the public with all proceeds from ticket sales being donated to Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance.

Party in the Park starts at 6pm, and features top tribute acts including One Direction Experience, Rule the World Take That Tribute Band and The 80s Experience. The night will conclude with spectacular fireworks at 11pm.

Bakkavor was founded 30 years ago in Iceland by Ágúst and Lýdur Gudmundsson. Today the group is a major global food producer employing 18,000 people worldwide, developing and producing over 5,000 products and partnering with the major grocery retailers worldwide.

Ágúst Gudmundsson, CEO of Bakkavor, said: “I am thrilled to be celebrating Bakkavor’s 30th birthday.

“The group has changed a great deal since 1986, and I am extremely proud of of where we are today, the relationships we’ve cultivated and all of our dedicated, hard-working employees who have helped drive our success.”

The festivities will continue throughout the month of August with Bakkavor sites all around the world holding events in and around their local communities.
