The future of Springfields Horticultural Exhibition is safe, chairman Bob Goemans assured SHE '94 visitors at the opening of the event.

The colourful spectacle of Britain's only forced flower show faced moving from its home in Winfrey Avenue, where it had been held for the past 16 years.

Spalding Bulb and Produce Auction was due for demolition to make way for a new supermarket and car park - part of South Holland District Council's £20m plan to revitalise Spalding town centre.
