WHAPLODE Drove gardener Kim Grove has won an RHS Gold Medal for the sensory garden she submitted to BBC Gardeners’ World Live exhibition.

Kim, of Broadgate, is still celebrating after receiving the medal and meeting TV gardening authority Alan Titchmarsh at the NEC last week.

“I received a lot of positive feedback from the general public, who loved it,” said Kim. “On the back of the Gold Medal we have been invited to exhibit at the Malvern Autumn Show.”

The raised bed was entered into Birmingham Borders, which provides an opportunity for horticultural students and budding gardeners to experience the design, planning and build of an exhibit in a show environment.

At that time Kim was studying garden design in preparation for a new life for herself and husband David in which they help other people learn to grow fruit and vegetables by opening up their five-acre garden and offer practical advice as well as plots for people to use.

Kim and David are in the process of replanting the border at home for people to view – contact them on 01406 330575.
