Bourne Motor Racing Club welcomes accomplished after-dinner speaker Stuart Turner as its guest next Thursday, June 11.
Stuart was champion navigator for the first two years of the British Rally Championship and winner of the Autosport Award as BTRDA Gold Star navigator for three consecutive years. He co-drove in factory cars for Austin Healey, Auto Union, MG, Mercedes, Saab and Triumph on major events like the Mille Miglia and the Monte Carlo, Alpine, Liege and Tulip rallies. He won the 1960 RAC rally with Erik Carlsson in a Saab.
As sports editor of Motoring News he created the MN Rally Championship and was competitions manager at BMC.
Stuart served on the organising committee of the London to Sydney Marathon and also ran the Advanced Vehicle Operations factory.
He also had a spell as director of public affairs at Ford of Britain before moving back into motorsport as director of motorsport for Ford of Europe before retiring.
Stuart doesn’t charge for appearing but asks that proceeds are split evenly between The Motorsport Safety Fund and the Lincolnshire &Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance.
The talk takes place at The Bourne Corn Exchange Hall, at 8pm. Non members are welcome by paying £5 on the door.
