Reading week and charity fundraiser in South Holland in 2011

Characters leapt off the pages when Reading Week came to South Holland in 2011.

Weston Hills Primary School raised more than £100 for Roald Dahl’s charity for seriously ill and disabled children, while toddlers got to meet Doctor Suess’ Cat in the Hat at Spalding’s Bookmark. Spalding Primary School pupils are pictured celebrating a dress-down day.

Fundraisers completed a sponsored walk to help transform a disabled seven-year-old’s life ten years ago.

After 40 people raised more than £1,000 by taking on a ten-mile route around Moulton and Weston, they donated the money to Dakota Read to help make her garden more disability-friendly.

An appeal had been launched one month earlier, with more then £4,000 needed for the alterations.
