Donington's community rewarded and Market Deeping Co-op shoppers raise charity money in 2011
Donington’s strong community spirit was rewarded ten years ago.
Judges from the Britain in Bloom competition handed them a silver award at their national event, honouring their commitment to making their communities better places to live.
In Bloom committee member Liz Bloom said: “We are absolutely delighted. One of the judges’ comments was that our community spirit is second to none so that’s really, really good.
Donington was representing the East Midlands in the large village competition.
Co-op shoppers in Market Deeping gave a helping hand to volunteers providing life-saving assistance back in 2011.
They handed over 20,000 till receipts during a six-week campaign that saw them net £200 for Deeping First Responders. The money was set to go towards training two new responders and extra oxygen for emergencies.
