Gedney Victory Hall garden fete and Wingland Foods raise money for Help for Heroes ten years ago in 2011

Gedney Victory Hall played host to its first ever garden fete ten years ago as it tried to raise money for maintenance.

The traditional event featured a range of stalls and games, with a bouncy castle helping to attract a crowd of about 80 people.

Organisers said they put on the fete to offer “something different”.

Employees from Wingland Foods in Sutton Bridge joined together to raise £5,700 for the Help for Heroes charity in 2011.

Eight people from the company presented their cheque to the charity’s representative Simon Hallam after various fundraisers.

Staff member Sarah Coates said these included a race night, charity golf day, raffles, five-a-side football and mobile phone recycling.
