Fun activities for Cubs, Scouts, Guides and Brownies in South Holland in 1996
Cubs from across South Holland celebrated the organisation’s 80th anniversary back in 1996.
More than 70 youngsters from Spalding, Pinchbeck, Gosberton, Donington and Crowland gathered at Pecks Drove to enjoy a Siege of Mafeking-themed event.
Activities included compass work, First Aid and games involving imaginary minefields. A birthday cake was also provided for everyone who attended the day. All cubs were handed a special camp badge.
Scouts, Guides, Brownies and Cubs were preparing for their big Spalding Scout and Guide Gang Show 25 years ago.
Auditions for the event, which was scheduled to take place in 1997, were held at St Nicolas Hall – with nearly 50 youngsters turning up.
Show director Colin Tucker said: “The response was much better than last year and we still have more to come.”
Children studied the show programme, played a stage game and sang some songs.
