LOCAL five-piece band Corduroy returned to the Parkside in Long Sutton on Friday, delivering a lively set to enthusiastic applause.
With three singers (main vocalist Terri Beardon, drummer Rob Howman and lead guitarist Simon Cock) they’ve created one of the most interesting and varied repertoires of any covers band in the area, and Friday’s set-list certainly didn’t disappoint. Kicking off with the in-your-face Breed by Nirvana and rocking out with the Subways and White Stripes, they also displayed a lighter touch with Snow Patrol’s moving Set the Fire to the Third Bar.
As well as belting out old standards such as the Stones’ Paint it Black and Blondie’s One Way or Another, and Kings of Leon they threw some Cardigans and Arctic Monkeys into the mix, too.
Most striking of all was their stripped-back, slowed-down version of Lady Gaga’s Poker Face, beautifully showcasing Terri’s vocal skills.
Don’t miss their next gig at The Five Bells, Tydd St Mary, on Saturday, June 25.
