THE Battle Proms Concert at Burghley House on Saturday, July 9 was a superb chance to get together with friends and family and celebrate all that is British.
The backdrop of Burghley house set against the evening sky was beautiful, with plenty to see including the battle re-enactments and Calvary display which appealed to the younger audience.
The whole atmosphere and delightful choices of music were enhanced by a Gun Salute and the jewel of the whole evening was the Spitfire fly past, which swooped and dived to Holst’s Jupiter from the The Planet Suite, this stirred everyone, especially as the sky which had been slighty grey and showery became bright with pink tinged clouds as we all looked upwards.
The grand finale of flag waving and everyone singing along to popular classics such as Jerusalem and the magnificent firework display all added up to a memorable evening which I would highly recommend and will definitely be returning next year.
