Uprated 666bhp 2017 GT-R Black Edition claims 2.5-second 0-60mph

Nought to 60 acceleration times have long been the standard measure of a car’s performance.

Anything in the three-second bracket was considered seriously quick – until electric cars came along. At first, these quiet assassins were ridiculed, but nobody’s laughing now as 1000hp+ EVs bring two-second 0-60 times within easy reach of anyone possessing the ability to mash a throttle pedal.

For those who prefer to keep faith with internal combustion engine performance, and with the engineering and driving skills required to deliver it, Gloucestershire-based Nissan GT-R tuning specialist Litchfield has released its LM20.

This modded variant of the 2017-model Nissan GT-R Black Edition produces 666bhp and 600lb/ft of torque from its twin-turbo 3.8-litre V6. That’s a whopping 74bhp and 119lb ft more than Nissan’s own full-house GT-R Nismo.

The numbers that result are 0-60mph in a eyeball-flattening 2.5 seconds, 0-100mph in 5.7 seconds, and a top speed in excess of 200mph. Order is maintained by bespoke traction control and electronic stability control packages, Bilstein Damptronic suspension with custom Eibach springs and anti-roll bars, and all-round 400mm Alcon brake discs inside lightweight Rays Track Edition wheels.

Litchfield describes the LM20 as its ultimate daily-use GT-R, and backs that up with a three-year warranty, breakdown cover and three years of free servicing.

Only twenty will be built at prices starting from £96,995, representing a £16,000 premium over the entry-level GT-R.
