A group of young musicians from Donington-based Bluebells Piano Academy are making all the right noises after success at a series of music festivals this year.

Eight youngsters from Bicker, Donington, Holbeach, Kirton and Wyberton carried off a total of 17 trophies between them at events across eastern England, including Grantham, Oundle and Peterborough.

Among the highlights were Joseph Kirkwood of Donington who won two trophies at the Grantham Music Festival after achieving the highest mark ever awarded and Rayan Al-Gahtani who won in six classes out of seven entered, in his very first year of playing the piano.

Piano tutor Lesley Pexton said: “This has been an amazing success for all the students which was due to their dedication and hours of practice.

“They won 18 out of the 23 classes entered and I’m extremely proud of them all.”
