The world-renowned Grimethorpe Colliery Band is returning to Deeping St James for the 28th consecutive year.
The band, immortalised in the hugely popular film Brassed Off, have been coming to the Deepings for more than a quarter of a century and will be continuing their close links with the area once again when they perform a Christmas concert at the Deepings Leisure Centre on Saturday, December 3.
This community event, which has become a major feature of the Deepings festive calendar, is organised and presented by the Rotary Club of the Deepings and attracts hundreds of people from far and wide.
It is not often in the quiet rural remoteness of south Lincolnshire that people have the opportunity to see such accomplished musicians – last year Grimethorpe won the British Open brass band championships for the sixth time in the band’s illustrious history.
Even if you are not a big fan of brass band music you will find this concert hard to resist.
The price for tickets has been held at £19.50, which includes a programme, entry into a raffle and a glass of wine and a mince pie.
Tickets are available from the Deepings Leisure Centre on Park Road, Deeping St James; the Spar Shop, Godsey Lane, Market Deeping; Co-operative Travel, The Precinct, Market Deeping and Oakwood Financial Services, High Street, Market Deeping.
Alternatively send an SAE plus a cheque for £19.50 for each ticket required (cheque to be made out to The Rotary Club of the Deepings) to Mary Martin, 8 Deeping St James Road, Deeping Gate, Peterborough PE6 9AS, or telephone 01778 343927.
