Marianne Wright is the guest of Windmill Music Club where she will be accompanied by pianist Geoffrey Pratley for what is his third visit to Swineshead Village Hall this year.

The concert, which starts at 7.30pm, will be the second of six concerts this season for the club founded by retired music teacher Bettina Houlder in 1962.

Speaking to the Guardian in May 2014, Bettina said: “After I retired from teaching music at the Gleed Girls’ School in Spalding, I decided to hold concerts in Swineshead where I try to get international prize winners of the highest standard.”

Marianne graduated from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music, London, where she studied under Cornish soprano Wendy Eathorne and Canadian vocal coach Helen Yorke.

I try to get international prize winners to come to play music of the highest standard and we’re very lucky to have six concerts in the coming 2015-16 season

A former member of Cantamus Girls’ Choir, Marianne now teaches music in Greater London and is also a member of all-girl vocal trio Sinopia.

Geoffrey is an ex-professor at the Royal Academy of Music, London, and played for more than 20 years with acclaimed English mezzo-soprano Dame Janet Baker.
