ROMANY Eva Petulengro, whose first book The Girl in the Painted Caravan recalled her early life partly spent in South Holland, is due to visit Bookmark in Spalding on June 26.
Eva, a member of the last generation of true Romany gypsies and one of the country’s leading clairvoyants and astrologers, will be promoting her new book, Caravans and Wedding Bands.
The new book takes her story forward to her marriage to a ‘gorger’ or non-Romany, and provides fascinating glimpses into the lives of her family and their travelling adventures.
She also describes becoming a famous clairvoyant, with celebrity clients lining up to have their palms read, and talks about many of the colourful characters she meets along the way.
Eva will be talking about Caravans and Wedding Bands, A Romany Life in the 1960s, from 7.15pm. Tickets cost £3.50 (to include a glass of wine or juice) and are available from Bookmark, The Crescent, Spalding.
