A village pub’s goodwill for Holbeach and East Elloe Hospital has reached new heights after its latest event raised more than £2,500.

The Bluebell Inn, Whaplode St Catherine, hosted a 10th Anniversary Blowout organised by landlords John and Jenny Lusher.

John said: “Our next door neighbour is the caretaker at the hospital and to celebrate our 10th year at the pub as well, we decided to do something special for August Bank Holiday Monday.

“We had a hog roast with live bands and a raffle for which we charged everyone £5 and it was a fun day where we even had custard pie throwing.

“All of our staff gave up their time for nothing to raise money for the hospital because it’s well run.”

Loraine Wigston, hospital manager, said: “The pub has raised money for us before but it’s absolutely amazing what they’ve done this time and I’d encourage anyone to support its fundraising events.”
