Regulars at the Duke of York pub in Gosberton Risegate have conclusive proof that their pints are the genuine article after an endorsement from Fenland CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale).

Licensee Sue Goodenough and landlord Phil Britten (front row, second and third left) were presented with a certificate by Fenland CAMRA chairman Nigel Woodburn (front right) in recognition of the pub’s commitment to serving beers of the highest quality and consistency.

Phil said: “I’m very pleased with the award because we’ve been serving good beer ever since I’ve been here and I’ve been a member of CAMRA since the 1970s.”

David Mellor of Fenland CAMRA said: “Our branch presented Phil and Sue with a certificate in appreciation of their long and continuing support to Fenland CAMRA.

“The Duke of York has been a constant entry in the Good Beer Guide since the couple took over the pub many years ago. “Phil’s wide range of beers have been second to none in quality and consistency, while Sue’s food has folk flocking in for her tasty dishes which are excellent value for money.

“No one goes away hungry after dining at the Duke and in presenting the certificate, our chairman Nigel Woodburn paid tribute to Phil and Sue and thanked them for all their hospitality and support to Fenland members over the years.

“Nigel also wished them many more happy years at the Duke of York.”
