Every girl’s dream to be a princess for the day came true in Spalding where a procession of prom dresses caught the eyes of starry-eyed spectators.

Crowds of students and their families were treated to a fashion show on their own doorstep as Springfields Events and Conference Centre hosted Prom Show 2016.

Spalding Tulip Queen Ella Holbrook of Moulton Marsh, joined Miss Lincolnshire Alexandra Mount of Cowbit, Miss Lincolnshire Earth Molly-Marie Buckley and other debut medals to parade the latest dresswear ideas for prom parties across South Holland in the summer.

Molly-Marie said: “It was a wonderful experience and lovely to spend time with all the girls, trying on all the dresses and helping each other into them.”

Alexandra said: “It was a lot more nerve-racking on stage than I thought but I can’t wait to do it again.

Ella said: It’s given me so much more self-confidence that I’m thinking of entering Miss Lincolnshire GB later this year.”

The show attracted exhibitors, including Fancy Frox and Robert Goddard Menswear, both of Spalding, Amber-Jane Parish of Painted Lady Mobile Nails and Alison Atkins of Sweet Sensations of Bourne.

Steve Shephard of Robert Goddard said: “There was a very good response to the show, a couple of hundred people came through the doors and it was very-well attended.”

Alison Atkins of Sweet Sensations said: “We had lots of people looking at and commenting on our stand and I think it’s been really good for young girls to have a chance to try on the dresses.”

Karen Povey, owner of Fancy Frox, said: “Prom Show 2016 was a brilliant success, a fun experience and we want people who came to think that the event was really great.

“We had a queue to try dresses on in the hall and, at one point, nearly every dress was taken from our shelves.

“It was the first show of its kind and so many people came to see what we had to offer.
