Families in Moulton Seas End will see their village transformed when a new £50,000 play area is built this summer.

Swings, roundabouts and picnic benches are all included in the play area to be funded by grants from businesses, parish and district councils, individuals and social enterprise

The not-for-profit environmental firm that helps fund community and heritage projects across the UK has given £35,000 to Moulton Parish Council towards the play area.

Moulton Seas End childminder Tracy Andrew, who helped with the project, said: “I’m absolutely thrilled that we’ll have the play area as it’s not just Moulton Seas End that will benefit from it, but the surrounding villages as well.

“It’s taken a bit of effort from a lot of people and I’d like to thank all the local businesses in the village that were so forthcoming with their donations.

“Without them, the parish council, district councillors, WREN and support from a lot of people, it wouldn’t have happened and the play area will be great for the village.”

Margaret Hains of Moulton Seas End Youth Club said: “The play area will make quite a bit of difference because there isn’t a lot for kids in the village at the moment.

“It will get a lot of use one it’s done and will be a great help to us at the youth club.”

Some of the WREN cash will also be used to upgrade existing play equipment in the village.

Coun Dave Briggs, chairman of Moulton Parish Council, said: “It’s fantastic that WREN can make funds like this available to communities and we are delighted that our project was selected.

“We are really looking forward to delivering the new play area and hope that everyone in the community will enjoy the facilities.”

Peter Cox, managing director of WREN, said: “We are committed to funding projects that make a real difference to local communities, children and families.

“Moulton Seas End Play Ares will provide a fantastic space for local people to get outdoors and have some fun.”
