More than 30 years’ service to Donington by volunteer Margaret Kenworthy (66) was rewarded when she was presented with the British Empire Medal in the village.

Mrs Kenworthy, manager of the Ruby Hunt Centre on Church Street, was the star attraction at a special ceremony where she accepted her honour for dedication and hard work on behalf of the Donington community.

The Lord Lieutenant of Lincolnshire, Tony Worth, (pictured with Mrs Kenworthy) made the presentation in front of more than 100 guests at the centre and Mrs Kenworthy said; “It was a wonderful day and absolutely amazing.

“I was expecting between 60 and 65 people, but well over 100 turned up and I was presented with some gifts from the trustees of the Ruby Hunt Centre which was a surprise.”
