Celebrations to mark the 90th birthday of the Queen are to be organised in Holbeach.

Plans are under way for community groups and organisations to be invited by Holbeach Parish Council to take part in at least two events to celebrate the landmark occasion on April 21.

We’ve had discussions about putting some sort of commemorative event together and we’ll be liaising with other groups in Holbeach to try and organise something for the Queen’s 90th birthday

One of the events will see the lighting of the Holbeach Beacon in Wignals Gate, last used for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in 2012.

Parish council chairman Cllr Isobel Hutchinson said: “We’ve had discussions about putting some sort of commemorative event together for the town.

“It’ll be slightly low-key and we’ll be liaising with other groups in Holbeach to try and organise something.

“We’ve also had discussions about commissioning some sort of commemorative sculpture for the Queen’s 90th birthday and her reign.”

Could you light a beacon for the jubilee?
