A workshop for people to learn how to turn their tired old furniture into something brand new has been put on by a Spalding flower shop.

Vintage paint techniques was the topic for a Grand Illusions workshop at Flower ‘n Things, Spalding, on Tuesday.

The five-hour workshop was led by artist Val Sandall and attracted students from Spalding and Bourne.

Anna Avery of Flowers ‘n Things said: “We’ve been upcycling things to use in our shop for years and we’ve used all sorts of different paints with which to do it.

“Then one of our suppliers relaunched their brand of vintage paints which we took and fell in love with.

“When people wanted to know how to use the paints as a way of transforming old furniture into something new, we decided to put on a vintage paints workshop once a month in our newly-built extension above the shop.

“People can learn all the techniques from our tutor Val Sandall and then have a go themselves.”
