Two Holbeach women with almost 25 years’ experience in hairdressing between them have opened a new barber shop in the town.

Mandy Ransom (33) and Zoe Stevens (22) have managed to draw clients to Well-Groomed Barbering on High Street from as far away as Peterborough and Birmingham since opening nearly a month ago.

The friends provide haircuts for men, women and children five days a week on Mondays and Tuesdays between 8am and 5pm, Thursdays and Fridays from 8amm till 7pm and Saturdays between 8am and 2pm.

Mandy said: “We decided a little while ago to set up on our own and the shop in Holbeach was the perfect place, in the right location.

“There was a small risk for us as we both put all of our savings into the business and we’ve thought about what might happen if things don’t work out as we thought they would.

“But this was the greatest opportunity for us to set up on our own and the first few weeks have been really good.”

The barber shop also offer blow-dries and there are plans to introduce cut-throat razoe shaves in the new year.

Mandy said: “Zoe and I worked together for five years at another barber shop and we became quite good friends, so we thought it would be good to have a go at running our own business together.

“Our customers mainly come from Holbeach and Spalding, but we also have some customers from Birmingham and Peterborough because they like the way we cut their hair.

Mandy trained as a hairdresser in Essex before moving to Lincolnshire in 1999, while Zoe studied barbering at New College Stamford.

“The barber shop has a friendly atmosphere and we want our customers to know that we enjoy what we do,” said Mandy.
