The time and skill put into millions of flower arrangements has been celebrated with thousands visiting South Holland churches to admire Flower Festival displays.
A brigade of church members supplied slices of cake, cups of tea and beautiful floral decorations for visitors to their annual Flower Festival.
Twenty-one churches in South Lincolnshire took part in the event which, until the final Spalding Flower Parade last year, attracted thousands to a 10-day celebration of the district’s floral heritage.
At St Laurence’s Church, Surfleet, visitors could enjoy a demonstration by Lincolnshire Spinners and Weavers Guild or view an art exhibition. There was a cafe for visitors and the community was involved in decorating efforts for the festival.
At Fleet Parish Church there was a display by pupils at Fleet Wood Lane School.
Funds raised by the festival are a vital support to keeping these historic buildings open.
