A feast of food and drink has been on offer in Spalding this bank holiday weekend as families, cooks, chefs, diners and singers came together for the Spalding and South Holland Festival of Food and Drink.

Visitors could choose from smoke-waxed cheese and chutneys, French olive oils, Italian vegetables and alcoholic ice cream at the two-day event organised by town centre manager Dennis Hannant.

There were also cooking demonstrations from celebrity chef Rachel Green of Select Lincolnshire, Will Vernon who is head chef at The Chequers at Weston, Loyd Luis of 1498 The Spice Affair restaurant, Spalding, and Indonesian chef Yuli Harness of Peterborough.

Mr Hannant said: “The aim of the festival is to make this a key event for Spalding and people attending it are not only supporting this particular event but future festivals held in the town which will, in effect, hopefully encourage visitors from other areas.”
