Moulton Chapel children’s author Anna Mandell and her lovable character Bamse delighted youngsters at Bookmark Spalding just before Christmas.

Anna signed copies of her book Bamse Came Too about a St Bernard dog of the same name that became a hero in the Scottish town of Montrose during World War II.

Anna’s husband Peter Madell said: “The day went rather well and we thought it was quite fruitful.

“There were photo opportunities with Bamse and we were very heartened by the way things went.

“The book has been well-received wherever it’s gone and sales are starting to pick, espcially in Scotland.

“All the feedback we’ve had is that it’s a high-quality book.”

Bookmark Spalding manager Samantha Buckley said: “It was a lovely event with Anna and Bamse staying and entertaining our customers, young and old, for two hours.

“Everyone who came enjoyed meeting Bamse and finding out more about his incredible story.”

Copies of Bamse Came Too are on sale at Bookmark Spalding priced £5.99.
