Trustees for Moulton Community Centre and Village Hall have warned that both buildings face closure later this year unless volunteers come forward to help run them.
The stark warning comes after a public meeting on Monday where lettings officer Margaret Geary stood down as a member of Moulton Community Association, which runs the community centre and village hall.
Leaflets asking people to join the association are being delivered to Moulton residents over the next few weeks and Roger Seal, chairman of the association, warned that the buildings will close for good if new volunteers aren’t found by the end of June.
He said: “Moulton Community Centre and Village Hall are vital assets for the community and the association exists solely to keep them going for everyone to enjoy both now and in the future.
“But there are still too few people committed to making it all work and our previous appeal has produced virtually no response.
“Unless enough new volunteers come forward to take on the necessary responsibilities before the end of June, then without any further notice the association will start the legal process of winding up and the doors of Moulton Community Centre and Village Hall will be locked for the last time.
“It will be a very sad day for Moulton if it comes to that.” Anyone interested should call Roger on 01406 370309 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
