It’s a little more than 20 years since a small group of enthusiasts got together to form Pinchbeck Photographic Group.
Interest in photography began when a short course on the subject was presented by Peter Moyse at the old village school.
When it ended, those who came decided to continue meeting weekly to help improve their skills. From this, an informal group was formed and a few of those still in the fold have watched it go from strength to strength.
Members used to meet once a fortnight at Birchgrove Garden Centre, Pinchbeck, inviting guest speakers, holding practical evenings and arranging outings such as an autumn holiday in the Lake District.
This social approach soon attracted new members, some still being with the group today, and later competitions and an annual print exhibition were added to the calendar of events.
Due to developments at Birchgrove Garden Centre, a new home was found for the group at The Pavilion on the grounds of Pinchbeck East Primary School.
The biggest change the group has seen in the last 20 years is the transition from print to digital images and Peter Smith, the group’s chairman, said: “There is no doubt that the digital camera has brought countless benefits and has certainly rekindled interest in our group.”
