University Academy Holbeach student Shannon Murfet (14) took a short cut for a worthy cause on Monday, putting her on course to raise at least £750 for Cancer Research UK.
The child care and PE student lost her locks at Elegance Hair Salon in Holbeach under the clippers of owner Lisa Keeble and surrounded by classmates from the academy.
Shannon said: “I wanted to do something good for a cancer charity because I had great-grandparents who died of the disease about ten years ago.
“My friends said they would support me in whatever I did so I decided about five months ago to have all my hair shaved off>
“I’ve been surprised by how much I’ve raised so far but I hope people will carry on sponsoring me through the academy.”
